Domestic Dentsu Group Launches "dentsu Japan AI Center"
―Driving AI Development and Utilization with Approximately 1,000 Specialists to Evolve into an AI-Native Company―
The five companies within the domestic Dentsu Group (DENTSU INC., DENTSU DIGITAL INC., SEPTENI HOLDINGS CO., LTD., DENTSU SOKEN INC., and IGNITION POINT Inc.) have jointly established the cross-group organization dentsu Japan AI Center (hereinafter referred to as "the Center") today, which will serve as the core for AI utilization and development. By consolidating specialized resources related to AI, the Center aims to contribute to accelerating corporate transformation for both the domestic Dentsu Group and its clients.

In recent years, AI has evolved beyond merely improving operational efficiency to become a transformative force for corporate management and organizations as a whole, with many companies accelerating their transition to 'AI-native companies' that place AI at the core of their business activities. However, in Japan, the adoption of AI often progresses on a departmental basis, and there are not a few cases where the lack of company-wide strategies and frameworks poses a challenge . In light of this situation, our group has established the Center as a Center of Excellence (CoE) that positions AI as the core of corporate transformation, bringing together management, business divisions, administrative departments, and technical/development teams in a unified effort. The Center is staffed with approximately 1,000 specialized personnel.
The Center will play a pivotal role in driving the AI-native transformation of the entire group by integrating AI-related technologies, data, talent, and expertise across the organization. Furthermore, its mission extends beyond the development, implementation, and utilization of AI within the group to include supporting clients in their AI development, implementation, and utilization efforts. To promote a comprehensive strategy that encompasses not only operational efficiency and advanced marketing but also the development of AI agents, the enhancement of AI data infrastructure, and AI-driven transformation across all areas of clients' value chains, the Center has organized six specialized units. These units will engage in cross-functional and practical activities to achieve these goals.
1. AI Operational Efficiency Unit
This unit promotes productivity improvement and operational efficiency within dentsu Japan by leveraging AI in internal operations. It aims to integrate AI into daily tasks through the development and implementation of necessary AI tools, as well as by supporting the enhancement of AI-related skills.
2. AI Marketing & Creative Advancement Unit
This unit enhances all processes in marketing and creative work by combining human expertise with AI. It accelerates the development and application of AI solutions/tools that drive client growth while also exploring new approaches to marketing in the AI era.
3. Integrated Marketing AI Agent Development Unit
This unit focuses on developing an Integrated Marketing AI Agent that connects multiple AI applications to comprehensively support all marketing processes. It also conducts advanced research on AI agent technologies. These AI agents will be utilized not only within the dentsu Group but also offered to clients.
4. AI & Data Infrastructure Enhancement Unit
This unit strengthens and expands dentsu Japan's unique AI data infrastructure, such as the proprietary large-scale consumer data-based AI model People Model (an AI persona representing a population of 100 million). It aims to establish cutting-edge foundations for AI utilization.
5. AI Marketing Transformation (AIMX) Unit
This unit supports clients in the development and implementation of AI agents for their marketing operations. It provides end-to-end support, from business consulting and strategy formulation to development and implementation, achieving simultaneous advancements in marketing sophistication, efficiency, and speed.
6. AI Transformation Unit
This unit assists in the development and implementation of AI agents across all areas of the clients' value chain, including management, business development, HR, and sales. It also supports the cultivation of AI talent and the transformation of organizational and corporate culture toward becoming AI-native companies.
The Center will collaborate with the dentsu Japan AI Governance Committee within the group to create and support an environment that promotes the appropriate use of AI services for dentsu Japan employees. Additionally, it will advance AI development, implementation, and support by closely working with relevant parties, including leveraging the outcomes of joint research with universities and other research institutions for technological development.
With the establishment of this Center, the Dentsu Group aims to further accelerate corporate transformation through AI and evolve into an AI-native company that delivers new value to clients and society.
