Respect for Human Rights

Basic Philosophy and Policy

To achieve our Group mission, we recognize that respecting human rights is a vital social responsibility and are actively promoting initiatives in this area. Respecting international standards such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the International Bill of Human Rights, we formulated and published our Human Rights Policy in December 2024. This policy has been disseminated throughout the Group, both domestically and internationally. We view this as a crucial initiative that leads to our sustainable growth by mitigating human rights risks. Moving forward, we will practice responsible corporate activities through the steady implementation and continuous improvement of this policy, beginning with the identification of human rights risks.

Governance Structure

In the Septeni Group, the Sustainability Committee—an advisory body to the Board of Directors chaired by the Group President and Executive Officer—discusses and reviews sustainability activities and human rights issues. Regarding human rights issues, the committee collaborates with the Group Risk Management Committee, which manages risks across the entire Group. The details of the discussions and reviews held by these committees are reported periodically to the Board of Directors, and decisions on particularly important themes are subject to a resolution by the Board of Directors.

Human Rights Due Diligence

The Septeni Group is committed to human rights due diligence as required by the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Since 2025, we have identified and assessed human rights risks through the following three steps, based on the Government of Japan’s Guidelines on Respecting Human Rights in Responsible Supply Chains and other relevant standards. Moving forward, we will continue our activities by implementing the PDCA cycle—including the formulation and execution of measures to mitigate these risks and ongoing monitoring.

Identification Process

STEP 1
Extraction of Potential Risks
Extracting a wide range of potential risks anticipated in the Group's businesses, based on major international human rights standards and rules.
STEP 2
Impact Assessment
Conducting interview surveys with each group company and department. The impact of potential risks is assessed along two axes: severity of impact on human rights and likelihood of occurrence.
STEP 3
Identification of Salient Risks
Identifying salient risks that should be prioritized, following discussions by the Sustainability Committee and the Board of Directors, and reporting to the Group Management Meeting.

Identified Potential Human Rights Risks

The human rights issues and priorities identified across our entire value chain—including the Septeni Group, suppliers, business partners, and consumers—are as follows. Based on these results, we will consider the implementation of prevention and mitigation measures moving forward.

Human Rights Initiatives

At the Septeni Group, we respect the human rights of all individuals and are committed to fostering a workplace environment that enhances job satisfaction and motivation for everyone. As part of these efforts, we are implementing the following initiatives.

Training and Awareness regarding Human Rights

The Septeni Group aims to ensure that everyone involved in our business shares a common understanding and to promote respect for human rights across the entire value chain. Moving forward, we will expand the scope of our training to include new graduates and mid-career hires at the time of joining the company, as part of our ongoing commitment to these initiatives.

  • Group-wide Learning

We conduct training for all employees to ensure respect for human rights throughout our business activities. Additionally, we provide bi-monthly e-learning to facilitate continuous learning.

  • Training for New Managers

We provide training programs for new managers covering topics such as harassment prevention, LGBT, and unconscious bias. These trainings incorporate content to deepen their understanding of human rights and are designed to facilitate practical learning through activities like group discussions and individual work.

  • Training for Officers and Full-time Employees

To promote respect for human rights, we conducted video-based training for Group officers and full-time employees to learn the importance of considering human rights in business activities (Participation rate for FY2025: 100%). We will continue to provide regular training for future employees to minimize risks by updating each individual's human rights awareness, aiming for sustainable growth and the enhancement of corporate value.

Internal Whistleblowing System (Hotline)

All individuals belonging to and involved in the business of Septeni Group are eligible to use the Hotline for reporting or consultation. External attorneys serve as the point of contact for these reports and consultations, and any officer or employee who uses the Hotline is protected under the Internal Whistleblowing Rules.

Call for Human Rights Slogans

The Septeni Group is participating in dentsu Japan’s “Call for Human Rights Slogans” initiative, aiming to raise individual awareness of respect for human rights. This initiative offers an opportunity for employees and their families to gain new perspectives on social issues.
